When I was young, I used to watch the first seasons of Naruto and then I stopped. Two months ago my friends started watching it and I heard that it had already ended, so I decided to give it a try. And I don’t regret anything.

7 weeks of watching this amazing anime and sometimes sleeping for like 3 hours a day (although I skipped most fillers.. guilty) and there are so many things that it has taught me or reminded me. Because there is always something important that we need to be reminded of.

“I’m Naruto Uzumaki! What I like is ramen, especially the kind at the Ichiraku Ramen shop. What I dislike is the three minute wait after you pour in the boiling water. My hobbies are eating ramen. And my dream… is to be the next Hokage!” – Naruto

main-qimg-de32fb2049a8c92e5295dcf43d482803-cMany people lose their faith in themselves because there is someone talented standing in front of them, showing them his back. This person was born with a talent and so we consider it useless to try to overcome him since it’s not meant to be. They are always going to be better, right?

Wrong. As Rock Lee together with Gai and Naruto show us, a hard work is always appreciated. A hard work is more than talent. If you tirelessly work and follow your dream, you can eventually overcome the genius and show him YOUR back. And because you gave it everything you had, the success means so much more in the end.

“It isn’t that if you become Hokage everyone will acknowledge you… It’s the ones who are acknowledged that can become Hokage.” – Itachi

Best-Friends-sasuke-and-naruto-27460995-259-194Naruto is the first anime/series from all those things I’ve watched so far that is based on friendships more than on love relationships. And I LOVE it. Of course that there’s a lot of erotic love (mostly the platonic one) but the strong stories that make you burst into tears are those about friends. Naruto is the great example of what it means to be a friend. A friend that never gives up on you even though everyone else did, a friend who tries to save you no matter what, a friend who you can push away how many times you want but he still believes in you and loves you. Naruto is an anime that shows us how important friendships are and that we need to appreciate their power.

“How can someone who can’t even save his friends become Hokage…? Isn’t it so, Sasuke?” – Naruto

Neji's_Fight_With_Naruto.pngNeji always believed that everyone had their destiny and they couldn’t do anything about it. He was born to protect the main clan of the Hyuuga family and die for the members of that clan. He kept saying that the fate could not be changed under any circumstances that it drove me crazy. But Naruto won over him and showed him that the fate CAN be changed if we try hard enough. He showed him that we can write our own destiny. We have the power to change our life.

“Even I can tell that hatred is spreading. I’ve wanted to do something about it… but I don’t know what… but I believe… that someday the day will come when people truly understand one another! If I can’t find the answer, it will be up to you to do it!” – Jiraiya

Kabuto_en_ShippudenñKabuto has been feeling lost since he was a child. No parents, no name, he became a spy for Konoha and he has never found his true identity. And that is why he became such a monster in Shippuden. The only thing he wanted was to find his true self, to find who he truly was. He added more and more things into his body until he completely changed into something different because he didn’t know what else to do. It’s important for us to find out who we are and it’s even more important to accept ourselves and cherish our weaknesses and strenghts. Because accepting yourself is the only way to love.

“Hey Nine-Tails, I wanna get rid of all that hate of yours someday!” – Naruto

This is quite a big spoiler so if you don’t want any, don’t read this one.

ItachiItachi is someting like Severus Snape from Harry Potter. They are detested, they hide in the shadows, they don’t get any glory at all and they die knowing that people will hate them forever. And still they did such heroic deeds that others can rarely be braver. But I personally find Itachi even more heroic than Snape because he had to put up with such a horror that nobody of us can imagine. He slaughtered his own clan for the sake of peace, he made his younger brother, who he loved so purely, hate him with all his heart and then he had to escape and never come back to the only home he had. And yet he died with a smile on his face, trying to protect Sasuke even after his death, knowing that he will always hate him. The real heroes are not those who receive all the glory in the world, they are not those on big screens and those who are painted on famous pictures. The real heroes are very often hidden in the corner and we never even get to know that they existed.

“Let it go, you’ve got to forget about revenge. Believe me, in this work I’ve met a lot of guys who feel the way you do. Trust me, for those who follow the path of revenge, it never ends well. You’ll only tear yourself apart and even if you succeed with your revenge, what would you have then… nothing, emptiness.” – Kakashi

fbd0a2_5ac024899244098b2223e922c18eb3c7.jpg_1024This is the question that troubles me the most. Pain made me think about this day and night and it feels like I still can’t really answer this. People lust after justice. When somebody killed your friend, you want to punish him for what he did as it is just. But doesn’t it mean that justice is just a revenge hidden behind other words? And if we seek revenge, we just continue to turn in this endless spiral of hatred. Because every time we avenge someone by hurting another person, somebody else shows up to avenge that person. And so it goes on and on, a generation after generation and people can never escape this circle. It keeps hunting us down.

And maybe Naruto’s answer is the only one that we can find. It’s forgiveness. Even if somebody hurts us, even if they hurt our family and friends, forgiveness is the only way to stop this spiral of hatred in the world. If everyone forgave, I truly believe that people would eventually find the right way. And Naruto is trying so hard to make them find it. He lets others beat him just to protect his friend and to let them punch away the anger and the lust after revenge, he forgives the man who killed one of the most precious people of his. I believe that Naruto has helped me find my way to peace.

“Then I will break that curse. If there’s such thing as peace, I will find it. I won’t give up!” – Naruto

Naruto_protects_TsunadeAnd the last one is the most important one. Naruto never, EVER gives up. Even though things are falling apart, even though he can barely stand, even though the world is coming to an end, he doesn’t give up. I’ve always been quite pesimistic and I’ve thought that hope was always supposed to turn into disappointement. But Naruto changed this. Now I believe that no matter what, the faith in better days is always worth it. And I believe that if you never give up, work hard and follow your dreams, you always achieve them. Always.

“I never give up… I never go back on my word… that’s my ninja way!” – Naruto

My life experience validates these “THE HARD-WORKER CAN OVERCOME THE GENIUS” and “YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR FATE”. And it’s good to have them on mind in any occasion.
